‘Religious Freedom’-Fighting NC Lawmaker Opposes Islamic Prayer in Legislative Meetings: ‘I Do Not Condone Terrorism’

This North Carolina Lawmaker (or in this case, since it is against the US Constitution  “Lawbreaker” believes that it’s okay to have a state religion—but only if it’s HER’s.  So, would the next logical step be to outlaw other religions (and in this case, particularly Islam)?

How about a state declaring that that state religion was “atheism”?

I guess it’s only “religious freedom” when it’s YOUR religion????

Christianity As State Religion Supported By One-Third Of Americans, Poll Finds – Huffington Post

In a country where one of the founding principles is separation of church and state, I find it frightening and yet sad by this poll’s result.

While he’s certainly entitled to his belief, what would he have done if the number 666 appeared in his social security number?

Seeing God in the Third Millennium – Oliver Sacks – The Atlantic

How the brain creates out-of-the-body experiences and religious epiphanies

Having myself having had both (an out-of-the-body experience as a child after a massive dose of penicillin), and a religious epiphany while walking on the top of the walls of Jerusalem  in 1990, I found this article by Dr. Sacks very interesting.  Does it preclude a genuine religious experience of God?  Personally, I think the jury is still out.

The Vatican is worried that support for gay marriage will lead to support for polygamy. So what?

Vatican vows to fight gay marriage after gains in U.S., Europe | Reuters.

For the record, I really don’t have an issue with gay marriage, polygamy, polyandry, or whatever occurs between 2 or more consenting adults. I don’t think it’s my business, and, as a heterosexual male,  I don’t intend to practice of these.

BUT, I do have issue with anything that drives people apart, that would deny people love in a world where it it so hard to find and keep.

So, for the benefit of the Vatican, let me point out one little thing: Continue reading “The Vatican is worried that support for gay marriage will lead to support for polygamy. So what?”

Is It Possible to Govern ‘Biblically’?

A very interesting article I found on Pulse  by Matthew L. Skinner.

Governing ‘Biblically’?

Is “God” blackmailing German Catholics?

According to the Associated Press, Roman Catholics bishops in Germany declared today that believers who refuse to pay religious taxes won’t be able to receive the sacrament, become godparents, work in church institutions, and possibly will be denied burial in sacred ground:

Why we must oppose ALL religious intolerance

“As long as there are those who are willing to shed blood and take innocent life in the name of religion, the name of God, the world will never know a true and lasting peace.”

– Hillary Clinton

Dr Pepper’s new ‘evolution’ ad: Offensive to Christians?

Ever think the anti-evolutionists take things too far?

From The Week web site: Dr Pepper’s new ‘evolution’ ad: Offensive to Christians? – The Week.

My favorite thing is the comment one person wrote about this:

“I ain’t no freaking chimp.”

No he isn’t…that would be an insult to the chimp...the chimp uses his brain.

Frankly, I’m a Coke man myself.  (Okay, maybe an occasional Root Beer)

If we believe that there is one God….

Judaism says:

“Yahweh, He is God in heaven above and on the earth below; there is no other.” Deuteronomy 4:39

Christianity says:

Yes, of Gentiles too, since there is only one God, who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through that same faith” Romans 3:29-30

Islam says:

“In the name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate.
Say (O Muhammad) He is God the One God, the Everlasting Refuge, who has not begotten, nor has been begotten, and equal to Him is not anyone.” Qu’ran Chapter 12

So,

Call Him by any name.

It doesn’t matter what a particular religion calls Him.

It doesn’t matter how a  particular religion worships Him

IT’S THE SAME GOD!!!!

IT’S THE SAME GOD!!!!

Why,

In God’s name,

Are we killing each other over a name?
