Vatican vows to fight gay marriage after gains in U.S., Europe | Reuters.
For the record, I really don’t have an issue with gay marriage, polygamy, polyandry, or whatever occurs between 2 or more consenting adults. I don’t think it’s my business, and, as a heterosexual male, I don’t intend to practice of these.
BUT, I do have issue with anything that drives people apart, that would deny people love in a world where it it so hard to find and keep.
So, for the benefit of the Vatican, let me point out one little thing:
Without polygamy, there would have been no 12 tribes of Israel (Jacob “Israel” married Leah and Rachel). Rachel gave birth to the two youngest sons, Joseph and Benjamin. Genesis recounts how Joseph becomes the governor over the lands of Egypt. During the time of famine, it is Joseph who saves all of Egypt as well as Jacob’s family by ensuring that enough grain had been gathered in the time of plenty to carry the people through. He also arranged to have Jacob and his family move to Egypt so that they will survive. This ultimately leads to the Exodus some four hundred years later, the giving of the Ten Commandments, and the birth of the Jewish nation.
My point: Without polygamy, no Joseph. Jacob and his family would most likely not have survived. Therefore, no Jewish people. AND ULTIMATELY, NO JESUS since there would have been no King David (tribe of Judah) from which to descend from.
